Anvita Gupta

Anvita Gupta is from Scottsdale, Arizona in the United States. She is currently a masters student studying Computer Science at Stanford University and an Artificial Intelligence researcher and entrepreneur. Her research in the space has been recognized by national and international organizations (Siemens International Science Fair competition, Intel Science Talent Search, International BioGENEius Challenge). Anvita has presented her work on AI and drug discovery to President Obama at the 2015 White House Science fair, where she was invited to join the president’s precision medicine initiative. Anvita is also the founder and CEO of LITAS for Girls, a 501(c)(3) international organization guiding young women in computer science, with chapters in more than six cities in the US and India, Singapore, and Montenegro. She was also the 2017-2018 president of Stanford Women in Computer Science.

Priyanka Rao

Priyanka is a final year student at IIT Madras with research interests in design and control of robots. She was awarded the DAAD-WISE scholarship for a summer research internship in Germany. She has worked on shape sensing of continuum robots along with their optimization and path planning. Being in a class with a skewed gender ratio of almost 1:25 made her realize the acute need to reduce gender disparity in STEM fields. She believes that a supportive peer-group of like-minded women who can guide and mentor you will go a long way in reducing the stigma about these fields being appropriate for women.
