Founder and Director- Anvita Gupta (Freshman, Stanford University)
An incoming Freshman at Stanford, Anvita started LITAS to introduce women to computer science at an early age and share her love of technology. After completing AP Computer Science and learning Java, Anvita taught herself eight more programming languages, including R, Python, Octave, and Matlab. She has pursued online courses in Machine Learning from Stanford University, is a State and National AP Scholar, and is passionate about working in the intersection of health and technology. She has presented her research in computational biology to President Obama at the White House Science Fair, and was an invited speaker at the White House Ebola Innovator Summit. In addition, Anvita has been recognized by several prestigious high school research competitions, receiving a Medal of Distinction at the Intel Science Talent Search, National Award in the Siemens Competition, and winning the top award in the 2015 International BioGENEius Challenge. In 2014, Anvita received the Aspirations in Computing National Award from the National Center for Women & IT (NCWIT).
